In a lawsuit that’s been on the books for some time involving agent Mark Spiegler [pictured] and his actions against Skeeter Kerkove for defamation, the courts have just awarded Spiegler $85,000.
The court denied yesterday Kerkove’s motion to set aside default and default judgment.
“We have filed Abstracts of Judgment which creates a lien on all properties he owns in LA County,” states Spiegler.
In February, 2009, Spiegler filed a $3 million defamation suit against director Kerkove for saying that Spiegler requires female clients to give him oral sex as a pre-condition for finding them work.
The suit filed in Los Angeles Superior Court claimed Kerkove, whose real name is Arland Kerkove, made the statements about Spiegler to AdultFYI.com operator Gene Ross because he was jealous.
Kerkove also allegedly named four Spiegler clients “to bring legitimacy to his statements.”
Performers Jayna Oso, Melissa Lauren, Katja Kassin and Katsuni were the female clients Kerkove identified to Ross and published Jan. 13 on AdultFYI, according to the suit.
Beverly Hills, Calif., attorney Richard Lloyd Sherman, who represents Spiegler, said that the four performers were never asked for oral sex by Spiegler.
“I have signed declarations from all the girls mentioned in the article denying that they ever said what Kerkove said that they said,” Sherman said.
The suit went on to say that “the false accusations that defendant chose to impute upon plaintiff are certain to elicit a negative reaction among colleagues and others in the adult entertainment industry.”
“[D]efendant made the comments after favorable press about plaintiff appeared in the Las Vegas Weekly and after plaintiff received a positive reception at a trade show,” the suit continued.
AdultFYI pulled the original article from the site, but later continued on with a narrative on what was said.
“Skeeter claims that some of Spiegler’s girls had made some comments about alleged blowjobs and that he had it on a BTS tape,” one post read.
Spiegler reportedly told Ross, “You know Skeeter’s not a reliable source. The girls have texted me already. It’s patently a lie. But if you can prove it, knock yourself out. You know he’s a liar.”
Skeeter couldn’t prove his claims, apparently, and was never forthcoming with the BTS tape which he said he had.
“He tried appealing it twice and he lost,” Spiegler reveals.
“I knew something was up when Skeeter started sending me something like 30 test messages in an hour. It was really weird stuff. He called me a dirty Jew and a terrorist and a tax dodger. All kinds of stuff. Then a couple of weeks ago he started calling me and leaving me these long messages. He’s out of his mind. I think something’s come loose a little.”
Although Kerkove changed his residence to Arizona in recent months, Spiegler says the court lien is on Skeeter’s Tujunga property which has served as the location for a number of porn shoots. Spiegler suspects that Kerkove was attempting to sell the property before a lien was placed on it.
“It didn’t work,” says Spiegler noting that most of the money will cover his legal bills.
“I sued Skeeter on principle,” states Spiegler.
