from www.mercurynews.com – The attorney for a porn mogul’s son accused of killing his ex-girlfriend with a baseball bat in Novato and kidnapping their 1-year-old daughter plans to put his client on the stand.

Defense attorney Stuart Hanlon told jurors on the first day of James Mitchell’s trial on Tuesday that Mitchell will explain why he went to his girlfriend, Danielle Keller’s, Novato apartment on July 12, 2009.

He says his client did not intend to kill Keller, but wanted her to love him and let him spend time with their baby.

The Marin Independent Journal reports that a prosecutor disputed that on Tuesday, saying cellphone records and witness accounts will show that the 29-year-old Mitchell went to Novato with the intent to kill.

Mitchell is the son of Jim Mitchell, who directed the 1972 porn movie, “Behind the Green Door.”
