Fresno- from www.cbs47.tvA local church took center stage Sunday morning for fighting the adult entertainment industry.

Former porn actress, Shelley Lubben, was a guest speaker at Cornerstone Church in downtown Fresno.

Lubben made people aware of the wild lifestyle she once lived and how our children must be warned about the porn industry’s dangers.

Shelley Lubben has been out of the business for 16 years and in that time, she’s found god and become an ordained chaplain. She’s also gotten married, had kids and made it her mission to educate the public about the dirty secrets of the porn industry. “It’s just a horrible lifestyle of drugs and alcohol and sexually transmitted diseases and it almost killed me,” Lubben said.

Lubben brought her stories to members of Cornerstone Church and talked about her commitment to bringing down the adult entertainment industry.

“We’re made for greater things than pornography. Pornography is devastating our nation and it’s devastating our youth,” Lubben said.

Lubben displayed staggering statistics about the industry, like how 2/3 of its performers have herpes and that the largest online viewing group of porn is children, ages 12 to 17-years-old.

Pastor Jim Franklin says this is information everyone needs to know. “We can’t hide from this issue any longer. It’s not just hitting society, it’s hitting the church; we see that in the news everyday. That’s why we’re going to be proactive and talk about it.”

Lubben says this is just the beginning and has other performers joining with her to make a change.

Shelley Lubben recently wrote a book on the topic called, “Truth Behind the Fantasy of Porn – The Greatest Illusion on Earth.”
