from www.newssun.suntimes.com – A Gurnee woman denied attacking a police officer with a sex toy and pleaded not guilty to all charges at her arraignment Friday.
Carolee Bildsten, 56, was charged with one misdemeanor count of aggravated assault and theft of labor for an incident Nov. 9. She was also arraigned on a felony aggravated DUI charge, according to Assistant State’s Attorney Scott Turk.
Bildsten was charged with the DUI in a incident separate from the sex toy issue. She was caught driving under the influence on Sept. 15, Turk said.
Bildsten pleaded not guilty to aggravated DUI and the misdemeanor charges, Turk said.
Bildsten was taken into custody Friday because pretrial services reported that she tested positive for alcohol in her system. Alcohol is not allowed when a person is released from custody with pending criminal charges, Turk said.
Bond was set at $20,000, which Bildsten posted later Friday.
On Nov. 9, Bildsten walked out on a restaurant tab at Joe’s Crab Shack, 5626 Northridge Drive, according to Gurnee police. An officer found her lying in grass near Six Flags Great America. The officer advised Bildsten that she would be arrested if she did not pay her bill, police said.
Bildsten told the officer that she had no money with her but had some at her nearby apartment.
According to the police account, the officer took her to the apartment, where she reached inside a drawer where she said her money was but instead pulled out what police called a “rigid female pleasure device” and struck the officer with it. The officer was not injured.
Bildsten was arrested and later was released on a signature bond.
She faces up to one year in jail and fines of up to $2,500 if convicted.
Bildsten is due back in court Feb. 17.
