MINDEN – A former Minden storeowner convicted in March of secretly videotaping female customers in a dressing room has been sentenced to 25 years in prison.
District Judge Ford Stinson handed down the maximum sentences against Benjamin Wright in a brief court session Monday morning in Webster Parish.
Stinson imposed two 10-year sentences for two separate counts of video voyeurism involving juveniles, and a five-year sentence on a third count involving an adult. The prison terms are to run concurrent, meaning the maximum Wright faces is 10 years, and he must serve at least 85 percent of that.
Wright was arrested on March 18, 2004.
Wright admitted during his trial this year that he videotaped the women, including two juveniles under the age of 15, in various stages of undress inside his Shoes and More store dressing room, but said it was for surveillance purposes and to ward off shoplifters.
