Minnesota- Two unnamed former Minnesota Vikings players said that strippers were present at the teams’ annual bye week festivities last year, according to a report in The St. Paul Pioneer Press.
One of the former players, who attended last year’s event, reportedly claimed that there were more than 20 women flown to the Twin Cities for the event, more than half of them strippers.
The Vikings have come under national scrutiny for an Oct. 6 boat party in which some current players were allegedly involved in public sex acts with strippers.
One current player reportedly told The Pioneer Press last week that this bye week tradition started several years ago – with rookies treating veterans to a lavish party.
However, last year’s festivities evolved, beginning with dinner at a Mall of America restaurant, followed by a trip to a Minneapolis night club – which the players rented out.
And then, The Pioneer Press reported a handful of players went to a hotel where strippers were staying.
This year’s party was held aboard two ships with an estimated total of 90 guests.
Vikings’ owner Zygi Wilf offered public apologies Friday, and took a step towards correcting his team’s problems Sunday when he hired former FBI agent Dag Sohlberg as the team’s new director of security.
Wilf has also promised to suspend or even release players found to be involved with police after an investigation is completed.
