SAN DIEGO – from www.10news.com – A mixed martial arts fighter who swept bottles at a female bartender and punched a security guard during a melee at another bar was scheduled to be sentenced Thursday in a downtown courtroom.

Jon Koppenhaver — who legally changed his name to “War Machine” — pleaded guilty last month to two felony charges of assault by means of force likely to produce great bodily injury.

The fighter was on probation for a misdemeanor assault conviction from 2008 when the bar assaults occurred in February and March of this year, said Deputy District Attorney Michael Runyon.

Judge David Danielsen is expected to sentence the 28-year-old defendant to a year in jail.
