KEYSER, W.Va. (AP) — Mineral County has become the latest in a series of Eastern Panhandle counties to restrict strip clubs and other “adult” businesses.
The county commission unanimously approved an ordinance Tuesday requiring such businesses to obtain a permit before they can operate in the county.
Commission President Wayne Spiggle regrets the commission didn’t restrict the sale of alcohol at strip clubs, but other commissioners say that’s in the hands of the state Alcoholic Beverage Control Commission.
A circuit court judge in Berkeley County last year ruled counties with planning commissions can’t regulate the location of strip clubs.
This year, the Legislature amended the law to allow for such regulation.
Berkeley and Morgan counties passed similar ordinances last month.
