Adam Wilcox posts on www.xxxwasteland.wordpress.com – Despite only two years performing in front of the camera, it’s safe to say adult actress Maddy O’Reilly has transcended the title of “rising starlet.” Since 2011, O’Reilly has climbed the XXX ladder with roles in major films for some of the top studios in porn, including Digital Playground, Wicked Pictures, Evil Angel, Hustler Video and Elegant Angel and her profile has been further elevated with a number of high-status box cover appearances.

O’Reilly’s superstar standing earned her both Adult Video News and XBIZ Best New Starlet nominee honors during this year’s award season in addition to serving as official trophy presenter at last month’s XRCO Awards show. In late-2012, the ginger-haired actress received the highest accolade of her career when she was cast in the role of Dorothy for Will Ryder’s Not the Wizard of Oz XXX parody musical, which is scheduled for release on June 25. Pre-order inquiries may be directed to Pulse Distribution Executive Vice President of Sales Robert Plarski at 818-435-1605 or [email protected].

(Note: At the time of the interview, Not the Wizard of Oz XXX was slated for release on May 21. Please be aware of the film’s new street date of June 25)

Maddy kindly spoke with XXX Wasteland on the evening of May 20 to discuss taking on the starring part in Not the Wizard of Oz XXX, her ascension to the top of the adult world and much more.

You can visit O’Reilly’s official online store at MaddyMerch.com, follow her on Twitter under the handle @MaddyOReillyxxx, check out the starlet’s FreeOnes page here and find her on My Free Cams at this link.

Q: The first thing I’d like to ask about is the Not the Wizard of Oz XXX parody, which is streeting tomorrow. You have the lead role (of Dorothy) in the film and I was wondering if you could tell us about the movie and how your involvement in it came about.

It was a while ago. I remember hearing that they were going to start doing the casting for it, so I showed up for the audition. I knew that I was one of like three or four girls that made it to the final cut, I guess, for Dorothy. About two months later, I had a meeting at L.A. Direct and they let me know that I had the part.

(Filming the movie) was awesome. It was a really long day, but it was totally worth it. And I think it’s probably going to be the best parody of the year.

Q: Yes, that is the buzz – that the movie is going to be huge.

Yeah, I’m really excited. (Laughs)

Q: I believe I read somewhere that you stated appearing in the parody was the best filming experience of your career thus far.

Yeah, it was really fun. Usually, when I show up to set and there is a script, people don’t take it seriously and stuff like that. But for this movie, everyone was really into it, knew their lines and you could tell that everyone wanted to come together and make an awesome project. And I think it’s going to show in the outcome.

Q: I interviewed Brandy Aniston (who plays the role of the Wicked Witch) after the filming had wrapped and she spoke very highly as well of the overall experience on set.

Yeah, it was a lot of fun. Everyone was really awesome.

Q: Is there anything else you think people should know about the film?

Well, all of the music that you will hear in the movie is original and it takes such a great storyline and adds our own little twist to it. So, I think people should check it out because they are going to be really surprised to see what happens.

The last scene in the movie was absolutely amazing. (Laughs) So, at least get to that part.

Q: You mentioned the original music featured in the movie. I understand members of the cast recorded their own songs and it is a musical in addition to a parody, is that right?

Yeah, there were some people who had singing parts.

Q: Did you yourself sing in the film?

No, I didn’t.

Q: Well, as I said, it definitely sounds like it’s going to be a blockbuster.

Yeah, I’m so excited.

Q: Going back a little bit, can you tell us how you entered the adult industry initially?

I first joined the industry … I was sitting at home, bored, watching porn. I scrolled to the bottom of the screen and there was a little button that said, “Submit to be a model.” I filled it out thinking nothing would happen.

When they called me, I got really nervous, but I was like, “I’m going to do this.” (Laughs)

Q: I read an interview where you said the whole thing happened really quickly – that you sort of just bought a ticket and headed out to begin a new life in California?

Actually, what happened is they called about three days after I had submitted my application online. It was for a company in Florida and they were already ready to fly me out for three scenes two weeks from the initial time that they called me. So, yeah, it happened really quick. (Laughs)

Q: You’ve had a very accomplished career thus far – you were nominated for both the AVN and XBIZ Best New Starlet awards this year, is that right?

Yeah, I was!

Q: So, you have already established a great name, but are there any aspirations you have for your career down the road?

Yeah, I would definitely this year love to win obviously Best Parody. I think Best Actress, Performer of the Year and Best Boy/Girl Scene would be highlights of my career overall. So, those are the top three goals for my career.

Q: You also served as an official trophy presenter at the annual XRCO Awards ceremony last month. Can you tell us about that evening?

Oh, it was amazing! It was such an honor because I did my research and I know that a lot of really awesome people … I’m following in their footsteps when I was serving that night. It was really cool to be able to think, “Nina Hartley did this once.” So, it was a great experience and I was glad to be a part of it and hand out every award to my co-workers. It was great.

Q: Wonderful. You will be appearing in Jenna Haze’ upcoming feature film Meow! 3, which is scheduled for release either later this month or in early-June. Can you tell us about working for Jenna and your role in that movie?

Oh, that was so amazing! I was so excited to work for her because she is so amazing. And then, to be there and work with a talent who I had always wanted to work with, which, for some reason, hadn’t been put together, was even better. I got the chance to work with Riley Reid for the first time and it was amazing. I was so happy – who else to work with Riley with than per Jenna Haze?

Q: I believe I read that you hoped to have an official website launched by mid-summer. Is that something you are still planning?

Yes, absolutely. I definitely have a website in the works. My MaddyMerch store will come out sooner than my website. There is still no date for sure set, but I keep all of my updates and things like that posted on my Twitter.

Q: Is there one misconception about the adult industry that you wish you could dispel?

I hear a lot that we’re here because we have to be (Laughs), or that we were abused or whatever. And some of us are here because we truly do just want to sexually explore in a safe environment and do something that not everyone else will have a chance to do. So, I think that’s the biggest misconception for me.

Q: I saw your post on Twitter the other day where you said you were going to be somewhere that night in front of a group of people who have a low opinion of those in the adult business. (Laughs)

(Laughs) Yeah.

Q: If you don’t mind my asking, how did that work out?

It went well. I have to be open-minded to their views if I expect them to be open-minded to mine. So, I have to try and see where people who may not be a huge fan of what I do, I have to see where they are coming from in order to try and meet somewhere on the middle ground to where we both have a good understanding of each other.

Q: May I ask a few questions about yourself as a person if that’s okay?

Yeah!

Q: Great – thank you. Can you tell us where you were raised and how you would describe yourself growing up?

I was born in North Carolina in a very small town, so everyone knew everyone – your typical small-town life. I had 120 people in my graduating class. So, just very boring, we-didn’t-have-anything-to-do kind of thing.

I went to Raleigh – obviously, much bigger, but still smaller in comparison to L.A. – that’s when I realized … I always knew that I was extremely sexual, but too shy to ever act on any of my wants. So, moving to a bigger city and seeing other people as open-minded as myself, I knew I had to come out to L.A. and be around more people like that.

So, I guess growing up, I was just kind of shy and into school and dance. And then (Laughs), the monster came out.

Q:(Laughs) How about interests and hobbies away from work?

I have two dogs that keep me really busy, so I like to do a lot of stuff for the Humane Society fostering dogs when my time allows. I like to dance, go see movies and play video games.

Q: Is there one thing about yourself that you feel would surprise a lot of people?

I’m really shy – almost painfully shy. So, I think that would shock most people considering I have sex on camera. (Laughs)

Q: Are there any more current or upcoming projects in the works that you would like to put out there?

Yeah! There is Shades of Pink, which just came out recently, directed by Melissa Monet and it has an outstanding cast. It doesn’t have that cheesy feel to it. A lot of books and stuff had that cheesy, BDSM feel after Fifty Shades of Grey came out, but this film, it’s just so unique and shot so differently. It’s really beautiful and I feel that it’s a great project for people to check out.

Q: Excellent. And you are on the cover of Cheri magazine this month as well, is that right?

That will be for August, yeah.

Q: Oh, August. I saw your Twitter avatar and just assumed it was for this month. (Laughs)

(Laughs)

Q: To finish up, is there anything else you wish to say to readers?

Yeah – they can follow me on Twitter, obviously, at @MaddyOReillyxxx. I do really cool gift packages for anyone who donates to a Humane Society and forwards me their receipt.

Q: Excellent. Thanks for taking time out tonight to speak with me. I was really excited to do it now with Not the Wizard of Oz XXX coming out tomorrow. The timing is great.

Yeah, the timing is perfect – exactly! (Laughs)

Q: I appreciate it and wish you continued success in your career. Have a great night.

Awesome – thank you!
