Illinois- A former Illinois State Police trooper pleaded guilty Wednesday to two counts of official misconduct in connection with ordering young couples to strip naked in Gurnee, ending a bizarre set of cases that began in the summer of 2005.
Jeremy Dozier, 33, of Beach Park was sentenced to 30 months’ probation and 200 hours of public service and was ordered to pay $500 each to Lake County Crime Stoppers and La Casa, a county women’s shelter. He also was ordered to seek sex-offender and mental-health treatment. Lake County Circuit Judge Victoria Rossetti stayed a 12-month sentence that would have put Dozier in the County Jail’s work-release program.
Dozier admitted finding a teenage girl and her boyfriend parked behind the Hampton Inn in Gurnee in April 2005 and ordering them to get out of the car, take off their clothes and run around a construction site. Dozier told the couple that if they followed his orders, he wouldn’t call their parents, officials said.
He also admitted finding a young couple parked in a car in Gurnee in February 2005 and ordering them to remove their clothes and make snow angels, according to officials.
Dozier was convicted of bribery and official misconduct in January in Cook County Circuit Court and sentenced to 6 months in jail. In that incident, he forced a young couple to disrobe and urinate after he came across their parked car on the shoulder of Interstate Highway 94 in June 2005.
Dozier spent 10 years as a state trooper and had never been disciplined until he was charged in 2005, officials said.
