Kansas- A man arrested in Mexico on charges of killing a Wichita, Kansas, college student who turned out to be a Internet porn model is fighting extradition back to the United States. Israel Mireles is wanted in Kansas for the murder of Butler Community College student Emily Sander.

The case made national news when it was discovered after her death that Sander, 18, was a nude model on the Internet known as Zoey Zane.

Mireles was arrested in December in Melchor Muzquiz, Mexico, at the home of a relative. He has appealed his extradition to the U.S. to a higher Mexican court. The appeal process could take up to four months, according to the Kansas attorney general’s office.

Mireles is charged with capital murder, rape and aggravated sodomy.
