NEW YORK– “HEGRE: The New Nude” is a revolutionary new photographic magazine that brings to the market a fresh new look at natural female beauty and celebrates the work of the award-winning Norwegian photographer Petter Hegre.
As Playboy, Penthouse and the other dinosaurs of the glamour nude have grown tired and artificial, “HEGRE: The New Nude” is taking us into the future with photographs of beautiful naked girls that are more realistic and personal, yet tasteful, life-affirming and full of joy. This showcase for Hegre’s singular vision is a historic event in the magazine world.
Early response to “HEGRE: The New Nude” has been generous and enthusiastic. “`Playboy’ meets `National Geographic,'” commented Joana Burgues of the Galeria Fotonauta in Barcelona. “This is probably the most important publishing project in the genre in the last decade. Mr. Hegre may well become as influential in the coming decades as Mr. Hefner was in the past.”
“HEGRE: The New Nude” illustrates in daring, often haunting images the role that photography plays in defining contemporary life and Petter Hegre lives that life in partnership with his model and photographer wife Luba Shumeyko, one of the most popular nude models in the world today. Following the publication of the best-seller Luba in 2003, the couple decided to further elaborate on their visions and ideas through the creation of this new magazine and naturally, Luba decorates the cover of the first issue.
The world’s most innovative photographers will share the pages of “HEGRE: The New Nude,” while London-based editor Clifford Thurlow will be seeking out writers with views that are original and distinctive.
Before “HEGRE: The New Nude” hits the newsstands in the Autumn, a special collector’s issue of 1000 copies shows a glimpse of the future. This high- quality 132-page non-commercial test issue displays more than 100 naked beautiful girls, and reveals the ideals of this exciting project. While the format and content are liable to change, celebrating female beauty remains on the agenda and plans are underway to launch worldwide in many languages with an initial print run in excess of 500,000 copies.
“HEGRE: The New Nude” is published by Global Media Publishing.
