CANOGA PARK, Calif. — from www.xbiz.com – Adam & Eve founder Phil Harvey and his company Phil Harvey Enterprises (PHE) have donated $20,000 to fund the Free Speech Coalition’s legal challenge to 18 U.S.C. 2257 and 2257A.
Last week, the FSC filed suit against the federal government following the Supreme Court’s decision not to hear an appeal in the Connections Distributing vs. Holder case.
The current complaint filed on Wednesday argues that 2257 regulations for adult content producers are unconstitutional, overly broad and burdensome.
The pledge from Harvey followed a request from FSC Executive Director Diane Duke for a “challenge donation” meant to encourage other industry professionals to donate to the fund.
“The contribution from PHE demonstrates a true commitment to being a significant player in the battle against 2257 and unconstitutional government regulation,” Duke said. “The fact that Phil Harvey was willing to write a personal check in addition takes that commitment to a whole new level. I asked Phil for a challenge gift to inspire others to give and to launch our litigation. Thank you Phil your contributions are truly inspirational.”
In March, Online Buddies Inc. founder Jonathan Crutchley donated $10,000 to help start the legal process in the current 2257 case. Since 2007, Crutchley and Online Buddies Inc., parent company of ManHunt.net, have donated $30,000 to help fund 2257 litigation, the FSC said.
