Adult videos: not just for pervs anymore

WWW- [hfxnews.ca]- Gone are the days where it is mostly men investing into adult videos. More and more women are indulging themselves in video erotica, either with their partners or on their own. If anyone knows this fact best, it’s the producers themselves of adult videos.

Traditionally, adult videos were made by men for men, leaving little for the female viewer to desire. But times are changing, and the selection has never been better for both genders.

It’s important first to put all your misconceptions about adult videos aside. Adult videos distributed by credible production companies are not illegal. It’s a multi-billion dollar industry, and the creation of such videos employs writers, directors, and make-up artists. And yes, even costume designers – they don’t just show up naked. There’s usually some clothing that is removed as things heat up, but I digress. The actors are consenting adults who are required to be of legal age, or the producer of the videos will face stiff penalties that can, and will, put them out of business.

Adult videos are intended to indulge human fantasies, so don’t compare yourself to the people in the video. Go into it knowing that yes, the breasts are probably fake and chances are high there is copious amounts of Viagra being taken behind the scenes. Nor should you feel like you need to be doing what they are doing. Videos are merely a way to indulge secret desires or fantasies without ever having to do them. If your partner is into a fetish that you’re not up for indulging, watching an erotic video together is an intimate way to share these fantasies.

Although I encourage people to look at videos as an opportunity to expand their repertoire of tricks in the bedroom, you still need to be informed of what is and isn’t safe to do between the sheets. The videos are often more about fantasy and leave out important aspects of reality and safety. If you are considering indulging a fantasy, make sure you inform yourself first.

Because more women are interested in video erotica, the other aspect of adult videos that has taken a dramatic shift is the role of the female. It’s a turn-off for the majority of female viewers to see a woman portrayed in a demeaning way. I’m not suggesting there isn’t still a lot of that going on, but there are more selections today that are not demeaning to women. Furthermore, the reality of the industry is that the women are on top. First of all, they rely on female actors. Second, women often get paid more and have far more opportunity to earn more money than male actors.

Being able to watch video erotica is one of the benefits of being an adult. It’s also becoming more accepted and is not longer perceived as something only the lonely and perverted do behind closed doors. Maintaining a healthy perspective about the role of such videos in your life is essential, but it’s something worth incorporating into your intimacy.
