AdultFYI Football Pool Week #2; Scott David and John Gray Tied for First

It’s days like yesterday that make grown men cry. Did you expect Pittsburgh to shank a couple of field goals thus coughing up a game to Chicago? Did you really care to see Chad Ochocinco [pictured] doing the Lambeau Leap in a truly unanticipated Cincinnati Bengals win over Green Bay? Could anyone imagine Tennessee losing to Houston? And how about them Cowboys? Those were only some of the upset applecarts in the first train wreck of the young NFL season.

However, in the instances outside of a total train wreck there’s usually an AdultFYI football pool member to think out of the box, and we had a couple of ‘em in Steve Volponi who went 12-3 and John Gray who came in second with an 11-4 record which helped him move up to a tie with Scott David for first place. Here’s how the scores went followed by the current AdultFYI standings.

From Read ‘em and weep:

Cincinnati 31, at Green Bay 24: Chad Ochocinco does the “Lambeau Leap,” vows to follow it next week with the “Nestea Plunge.”

Oakland 13, at Kansas City 10: A confused Al Davis thanks Ken Stabler and John Madden for making the win possible.

at N.Y. Jets 16, New England 9: After Saturday, Pete Carroll does not allow mention of the Jets or their quarterback in his house.

Houston 34, at Tennessee 31: Titans are 0-2 this season, after starting last season 10-0. That’s not what they mean by a balanced offense.

Arizona 31, at Jacksonville 17: Mark Sanchez calls Matt Leinart after game, gives him the scoop on what it’s like to be an NFL quarterback.

at Atlanta 28, Carolina 20: Hostess files a lawsuit against Jake Delhomme after game, claiming he is in violation of trademark on turnovers.

New Orleans 48, at Philadelphia 22: See, there was a reason Kevin Kolb had been in the league three years without starting a game.

Minnesota 27, at Detroit 13: After game, coach puts Lions’ offense on field alone to run the playbook. It still takes them five plays to score.

at Washington 9, St. Louis 7: Soccer fans watch games like this and wonder why people say that their sport is boring.

at Buffalo 33, Tampa Bay 20: Winless Buccaneers hope NFL adds a 17th game so they can beat Lions’ season record.

at San Fran. 23, Seattle 10: Seahawks thought they heard ref say before game that touchdown runs longer than 20 yards wouldn’t be allowed.

at Chicago 17, Pittsburgh 14: And just like that, the fans in Chicago love Jay Cutler again. Until the next time he loses.

at Denver 27, Cleveland 6: Broncos have given up only one TD in two games. Raiders might end up with minus-seven points next week.

Baltimore 31, at San Diego 26: Rivers is looking a lot like Dan Fouts, throwing for a lot of yards, but always coming up a little bit short.

N.Y. Giants 33, at Dallas 31: It was awkward when Kanye West walked on field to say to Romo, “No disrespect, but Troy Aikman was great.”
