Perhaps most damaging of all is the allegation that, over many years, he has been protected by the Swedish secret service, Sapo, hoovering up embarrassing material in his wake and pressuring women to hand over compromising pictures.

The book reports that King Gustaf spent a fortune on the sex parties and strip clubs, according to the Daily Mail, and he also apparently held liaisons in a communal hot tub with scantily clad women.
Sometimes, according to the book, the girls would ‘throw off their clothes and sit in the men’s laps’.
According to the Mafia-linked club owner Mille Markovic, who is quoted in the book, he liked having the King as a customer because it minimised the possibility of police raids.

Some women interviewed in the book say they had sex with the king, and one paragraph says he once had sex with two women at the same time. There is one occasion in Atlanta in 1996 where the book claims that the King spent $10,000 in the Gold Club nightclub and then spent two hours alone with one of the strippers.
The book also implies that the King had an affair with Camilla Henemark, the Swedish singer and model. She has not commented on the matter, but the book states that Queen Silvia was aware of the affair but could do nothing because the King had fallen in love.
There has always been much sympathy for him, since it emerged that he is dyslexic and finds reading and writing difficult.
Added to this was considerable admiration for the way he overcame the challenges he faced as a child.
