Sean from www.pornlegends.com writes the following editorial: Over the weekend, Gene Ross at Adultfyi.com broke a story that porn actress Tiana Lynn had tested positive for Hepatitis C (HCV). As of Tuesday morning, the industry’s resident health official, Sharon Mitchell, nor her non-profit clinic nor the clinic’s blow-hard chairman has made any official public statement on the matter.
Although it is a low probability, HCV can be spread by sexual contact with an infected person. Isn’t this as important as HIV or any other STD?
In an interview on lukeisback.com, Lynn was asked the following question: “Sharon Mitchell doesn’t have any problem with you working in the industry because she understands it is not contagious?”
Lynn: “Yes. Exactly. If anybody has any questions, they can call her directly and she can explain my case.”
We will not point the finger at Mitchell for telling Lynn that HCV isn’t contagious considering Lynn just may be trying to place words in Mitchell’s mouth to save her own adult career.
However, it should be noted that in our research, we did not find anything that states that HCV is not contagious. In fact, the CDC suggests that, “If you are having sex with more than one steady sex partner, use latex condoms correctly every time to prevent the spread of sexually transmitted diseases. You should also get vaccinated against hepatitis B.” There is no vaccine to prevent HCV.
Why does the industry’s health care leader remain silent on this matter? Is the answer, like so many this year, wrapped in a latex condom?
