from www.mediabistro.com - When a porn actor goes on a rampage and tears up a Valley porn studio, killing one and maiming two others, obviously the story is going to draw intense media coverage -- as happened last week with Steven Hill's attack on Ultima DVD. We here at FBLA have certainly milked it for all it's worth. But coverage does not guarantee sensitivity, and it certainly doesn't guarantee thoughtful analysis.

In the case of the Hill story, porn star Amber Peach [pictured] provided AOL News with something no one else in the press has been able to: a thoughtful intelligent take on the incident. She spoke with AOL News:

"The bottom line is this incident has nothing to do with the industry. If you haven't noticed, the U.S. economy is in shambles. Porn talent, just like the rest of Americans, are hard pressed to find work.

"The guy snapped and it's very, very sad. I think we should keep all of the victims and their families in our prayers and leave them alone."

She's absolutely right. LAPD detective Joel Price all but confirmed this last week when he told the AP Hill didn't target victims. His sole intent was to hurt or kill as many people as possible during his attack. Hill wasn't a freak. He wasn't a career criminal. He snapped, sadly, as many people in America do when faced with overwhelming economic insecurity.
