New Bern, North Carolina- Greg Sakas calls me to say he’s got two attorneys from Paul Cambria’s office coming down to New Bern this week.
“They will be here Wednesday and Thursday morning to meet with Glen Barfield and Mark Chestnut [Sakas’ local attorneys] to plan our strategy,” says Sakas. “We will be discussing filing a lawsuit against the city of New Bern. I don’t think there’s any doubt.”
Sakas also reports that his store is still under surveillance by police after raids in January and September.
“They’re across the street every day with marked and unmarked cars” he says.
“They’re just sitting there. With all this going on this is a definite. We’re going to see what we’re going to do. I think it’s time to put things into the works. I’m not going to back down. There’s no sense there.
“As far as the police chief [Frank Palombo] I think his career- and I was talking to a reporter from New Bern off the record- they’re laughing their butts off there, too. Because this man [Palombo] with the Christian Coalition and his political aspirations might have just gone down the shitter with his son being busted on major drug charges. And he didn’t know?”
“Right, I’m sure. A police chief can’t tell any signs that there’s anything wrong with his son? No, they were looking too close at Pure Bliss and head cleaner [another thing Sakas was busted on] so they didn’t have any time to look at any major drug problems in the city. Take care. That was just an update.”
