SCOTTSDALE - Scottsdale leaders will fight Babe's Cabaret at the polls on Sept. 12, but they may have to send through a liquor license transfer for adult film star Jenna Jameson.
Scottsdale police and other city officials have spent nearly six months looking for dirt on Jameson and the three other new co-owners of Babe's, hoping the city could recommend a "denial" on the license transfer to the Arizona Department of Liquor Licenses & Control.
A staff report for Tuesday's Scottsdale City Council meeting states that the owners listed on the license application "satisfy the state criteria of being capable, reliable and qualified." The council has the option of sending a "no recommendation" to the state board.
Council members in December imposed regulations on Scottsdale's two adult clubs that are so strict the club owners said they would be forced to close. The clubs quickly gathered enough signatures to force a referendum on the Sept. 12 primary election ballot.
