Barbie Banned From Saudi Arabia

(DUBAI, SAUDI ARABIA) — She’s already banned. Now, Barbie has been declared a menace to Saudi society.
“Let us beware of her dangers and be careful,” Saudi Arabia’s government-sanctioned Islamic cops declared yesterday in the nation that produced 15 of the Sept. 11 hijackers. “Barbie dolls, with their revealing clothes and shameful postures and accessories … are a symbol of decadence to the perverted West,” the cops said.

Sheik Abdulla al-Merdas, a preacher in Riyadh, said Barbie’s clothes and bangles may prompt the country’s women and girls to “refuse to wear the clothes we are used to.”

Saudi women must cover themselves from head to toe with a black cloak in public. The Saudi religious enforcers also claim the doll is modeled on a Jewish woman. Barbie’s U.S.-based maker, Mattel, had no comment.

Editor’s Note: One more reason to be SOOO thankful we live in America!
