Beverly Hills, CA- Hustler’s longest-running and best-selling adult series celebrates its 75th release on September 25, 2007.
With the magazine launch in 1994, and the video introduction in 1999, Barely Legal has become a pop cultural phenomenon. The name Barely Legal is now shorthand to describe all things enthusiastic and nubile. Consistently on AVN’s 100 top DVD sales, Barely Legal and its sub-brands set the standard in the highly competitive world of adult films. While there have been many imitators, none match the quality and zeal of Barely Legal.
Directed by Barely Legal Magazine photographer Clive McLean, the Barely Legal video series became McLean’s creative baby. He wrote and directed every episode until his illness and subsequent death in 2005. McLean’s knack for casting the freshest, hottest teens in amazing locations proved to be a huge success.
“We are always trying to improve and grow,” says McLean’s widow and current director of the Barely Legal series, Erica McLean [picture]. “But it’s important to stay true to Clive’s vision. The fans expect that. The loyalty shown for this brand is unlike any other in the adult industry.”
“Barely Legal is without a doubt our best-selling line and the most consistent selling series out there,” says Hustler National Sales Manager David Diamond. “I can’t think of another series that has been around longer or that performs better.”
