BEAUMONT, TX – Beaumont Police raided three local businesses, Sunrise, Krazy Katz, and Bare Necessities, Wednesday afternoon Oct. 25 for violating Texas obscenity statutes by selling prohibited merchandise.
According to Lt. Jim Clay of the Beaumont Police Department who was at Sunrise at 2425 11th St. in Beaumont for the raid, “A citizen complained of obscene material being sold. An undercover investigation was launched. This is one of three different businesses involved. Sunrise, Bare Necessities, and Krazy Katz were investigated.
An undercover officer made purchases and brought them before Judge Walker. The items were considered obscene, and search warrants were issued. Officers are gathering items within the store, both videos and devices. Each will go under judicial review based on obscenity laws.” Clay said the employees on duty have been arrested and held pending formal charges. The manager of the facility returned to the shop after his lunch and was arrested.
