Boston- from www.dailymail.co.uk – A spa owner has been charged with selling sex from a string of beauty salons after she was caught in a police sting.
Terry Mussari, 45, who owns three spas in the Boston area, was charged with deriving support from prostitution.
The mother-of-one has pleaded not guilty to accusations that her businesses are brothels cloaked as day spas.
The prosecution claims Ms Mussari agreed to provide an undercover state trooper with 12 women who would perform sexual acts at a party.
They allege that she demanded a down payment of $1,720.
After the state trooper paid the deposit to Ms Mussari, he said he met with her over the weekend at the Aria Day Spa. She then allegedly offered him sex for money with one of her masseuses.
The trooper notified other officers, who raided the spa.
As well as the Aria Day Spa, Ms Mussari owns Spa Bellissimo and the Sparkle Day Spa, both also in the greater Boston area.
Taking the stand: 45-year-old spa owner Terry Mussari was charged after an undercover state trooper said her masseuses were selling sex for money
Prosecutors allege that spa workers had been calling the money they earn from sex acts ‘tips’.
Ms Mussari’s attorney, William H Sims, told the judge that his client is a prosperous businesswoman and a responsible mother to her young daughter.
He told the Boston Herald that the allegations were ‘inaccurate, exaggerated and embellished upon.’
Even so, it seems several locals are concerned that Ms Mussari’s spas were offering more than met the eye.
Christina Massa, who works at a neighbouring spa, told WHDH: ‘I work down the street at another salon in Easton, and I’ve heard about that for a while.’
Ms Mussari was released on $2,000 cash bail Monday, but must return to court for a January 9 appearance.
