from www.bmovieman.com – Actress Angelina Armani may not be known for being a Hollywood Scream Queen… yet. But this statuesque beauty plans to change that.
A New York City girl, Angelina came to L.A. a few years ago and has taken her long standing love of the horror genre to heart. Landing a role in CHROMESKULL: LAID TO REST 2 was only the first step; she is also working on two more horror projects, and is scheduled as a guest at the 2011 Texas Frightmare Weekend horror convention in Dallas. B-Movie Man Nic Brown had a chance to talk with Angelina about her entry into the world of horror, her new film roles, and why the Discovery Channel’s Shark Week holds a special place in her heart.
Nic Brown – Angelina, how did you get started in film?
Angelina – I moved to Los Angeles at nineteen years old. I started off doing runway modeling then ending up doing films which has always been what I wanted to do.
Nic – You’re in CHROMESKULL: LAID TO REST 2. Can you tell us a little about the film and your role in it?
Angelina – CHROMESKULL: LAID TO REST 2 picks up three months after we first left ChromeSkull at the end of the original LAID TO REST. Tommy (Thomas Dekker), who’s struggling to come to terms with his encounter with the masked killer, has now gone missing courtesy of the maniacal Preston (Brian Austin Green), a mysterious player in the sequel with a sinister connection to ChromeSkull. Meanwhile, our killer has set sights on a new girl who also goes missing, and detective King (Owain Yeoman) must race against the clock to find her and Tommy before it’s too late and try to put an end to ChromeSkull’s deadly legacy. My role for LTR is a detective. The film is set to be released in the fall of 2011.
Nic – So do you enjoy horror films?
Angelina – I absolutely love horror films. It’s the only genre I’ve watched from a little girl. I’ll pick a slasher movie over a Disney movie any day.
Nic – So what are some of your favorite horror films?
Angelina – I have always been a fan of the HALLOWEEN films. I grew up watching them.
Nic – Since you enjoy slasher films… Marry, Date, Dump… ChromeSkull, Michael Myers, & Jason Vorhees and give us a little bit of why for each.
Angelina – I’d marry ChromeSkull since he turns me on the way he kills his victims, and so I can use his knife on him in bed. Plus he would be just as aggressive as I am during sex 😉 I’d date Michael but couldn’t marry him. I’d get bored of his kills after a while. Jason is out the window. Eh not my type of guy.
Nic – Why do you think horror is such a popular genre?
Angelina – Multiple reasons. For example: Slasher movies relate to people because in the back of their mind, they know that it could really happen. I think it makes people wonder about the “What If” while giving them a bit of adrenaline rush and fright at the same time.
Nic – Some people think that the horror genre exploits women. What are your thoughts about that?
Angelina – I’m sure some people would believe that but at the same time there are plenty of lead roles for women who play strong characters and set examples for society. Acting is about slipping into that character mode. At the end of the day, you make a movie. It doesn’t change who you are as a person.
Nic – What are some of your other upcoming projects?
Angelina – In 2011 I’m expecting a few other films to be released like CREEP VAN and BLOODSTRUCK. I will also be traveling a lot filming and signing at many conventions in 2011. So you can be expecting a lot from me.
Nic – You mentioned you’ll be a guest at some conventions in 2011. Have you ever been to a horror convention as a guest or as a fan?
Angelina – 2011 will be the first year I will be attending conventions as a guest. I’m really excited to be out there meeting everyone.
Nic – What do you enjoy most and what do you find the most challenging about acting?
Angelina – I enjoy learning new things every day from new people. It’s what keeps acting so exciting for me. I’d say the most challenging would be the long hours on set.
Nic – Which director would you most like to work with and what kind of project would you like to work with them on (horror, action, drama, etc…)?
Angelina – I would love to work with Wes Craven on a horror film. He’s done amazing work in his career and created the most horrifying films that people still talk about, and most of all there still afraid of them especially since today’s technology is so advanced. It’s hard to do that in movies.
Nic – I understand you play guitar. What do you like to play and what’s your favorite guitar?
Angelina – I actually just started taking bass lessons. I love it. I never thought it would be so difficult since making music is so beautiful. I really started to get the hang of it, and it’s something I like to play on my spare time at home.
Nic – When you’re not acting, modeling, or learning to play guitar, what does Angelina Armani like to do for fun?
Angelina – I like to study sharks on my spare time. I love our beautiful apex predators. I’m all for the protection of sharks. I love surfing on my spare time in San Diego. It’s so relaxing. It’s a lot of fun. I’m all about trying new things.
