Bob from Dane Ent. writes: Just read the trash talk from Raven, and I must put my 2 cents in, as I am extremely hurt at what was said.
Firstly, Dane is going into its 11th year in business. We try to be fair with all people we deal with, but we will not be bullied into spending money unnecessarily just to show we are big shots with deep pockets. We shoot scenes with many different people, mostly those who do not have to constantly pat themselves on the back, look for interviews all over the place, and tell us how great they are.
We spend money where we have to. We are tough, firm, but we are also caring.
Ed and I argue all the time because we can. There is a feeling of mutual admiration and respect we have for each other, and for those who give it, we return it. We never pat ourselves on the back, quite the contrary, we mind our business, stay in our place, make deals that benefit our customers, so we can satisfy their needs, and generally mind our own business.
Ed never goes to the weekly bru-ha-has the industry throws, and I attend those that are thrown by people I respect, and help me, and you can count the number I have attended on both hands in the past year.
When Dane is demeaned, I am demeaned. We are not the biggest company, but we are the most caring. I guess age does that to you. There are many deals that go sour in this business, many people back out of promises made, shit happens. In the years I have been here, we would never go on a site and trash talk anyone. That is a sign of immaturity, and little self-worth. Dane does as much or more for people who need our support than I care to talk about. Those of you who know me are aware of this.
Anyone needing help, I as an officer of the company am there whenever to support those who need help. All you have to do is ask once.
I am surprised that Raven would say these things, but I guess that comes with the territory. When you deal with so many people on a daily basis, you cannot please all of them, but you do not go out and knowingly try to hurt those who you have had dealings with that did not work out. You simply go on to the next project, do not look back, and above all do not try to demean people just because you do not agree with their views.
I do not have any bad feelings towards Raven, or anyone else in this industry. We may not see eye to eye, and deals may come and go along with disagreements, but I will never, ever hurt anyone by talking about them and trying to hurt them to make myself
A big shot.
I, as a spokesman for Dane want to be known as a decent businessman, but more than that, a decent person who is known for the goodness in his heart, not the depth of his wallet. Ed and I will try to continue to do our thing to satisfy our customers, and keep costs in line where we can. We have a library in the warehouse second to none in that nothing has been chopped up.
We today purchased 10,000 pieces of outside product because our customers ask for this, and believe me, we make pennies on each piece, but more importantly to us, we build relationships with our clients, and they know it.
We donate more to those in need each year than some people make, in both time and money. So I end this letter with a feeling of sorrow, knowing we did nothing wrong. Raven was paid every cent he was owed by us, and as we are known for, our checks are always good. I got him and his friends a pass for the avn expo, and generally did all I could to help him.
We will not however be held hostage by anyone who throws a budget out to us, and demands we accept it. We still live in a democracy, and have the freedom of choice, thank GOD.
I am sorry I had to respond to this immature bullshit, but bad-mouthing DANE is the same as bad-mouthing those who run it, and we are decent, caring, family people who do not deserve it.
Thanks for reading this, and Gene, thanks for wasting your space and time printing this.
With much gratitude, ED and BOB, DANE ENTERTAINMENT
