Boston police arrest suspect in Craigslist Killer case

From www.nydailynews.com- Julissa Brissman, a New York masseuse, was one of three victims of the Craigslist Killer.

Boston cops have arrested a man they suspect is “Craigslist Killer,” the Daily News has learned.

A man is in custody, police sources said, and a press conference is expected later tonight.

The suspect’s name could not immediately be learned.

The arrest came just hours after police released new photos showing that the suspect strolled casually to and from his three crime scenes, peering into his blackberry.

The security camera photos taken last Thursday show a 20-something 6-foot-tall blond man in the hallway of a Warwick, R.I., Holiday Inn Express where a prostitute who advertised online was tied up and robbed at gunpoint.

Police believe the same man attacked two women in posh Boston hotels in the last two weeks, killing one: New Yorker Julissa Brisman, a 26-year-old who advertised as an in-room masseuse on Craigslist.

Brisman was shot multiple times in a 20th floor room of the Copley Marriott on April 14, apparently because she fought the suspect’s attempts to restrain her with plastic handcuffs known as “zip-ties.”

The blurry Rhode Island images match better quality photos snapped in Boston right after the two earlier attacks that show the suspect walking casually through hotel lobbies and the swanky Prudential Mall nearby.

In all three sets of photos, the blond man is wearing a black leather jacket and jeans and holding or staring into a Blackberry as he walks. In some photos, he appears to be texting.

In the Rhode Island photos and at least one of the Boston photos, the man is wearing a baseball cap.

The robbery and murder spree began April 10, when a 29-year-old woman who advertised as an erotic dancer on Craigslist was attacked at Boston’s Westin hotel.
She was bound with plastic ties and robbed of her debit card and $800 in cash.

Four days later, Brisman was shot to death at the nearby Marriott Copley.

Two days after that, on April 16, a 26-year-old prostitute from Las Vegas was attacked in the Holiday Inn in Warwick, about an hour south of Boston.

Again, the suspect tied the woman with plastic restraints, flashed a gun and demanded cash.

He was interrupted when the woman’s husband entered the room and fled, police said. The husband briefly chased the man but then returned to check on his wife, police said.
