Conversations with Tommy Gunn

Porn Valley- I spoke to Tommy Gunn [pictured center] on the set of Team Tyler Productions’ UnFaithful Secrets last week. Gunn and I had some major time to kill because Mika Tan had been running late. The first thing I ask Gunn is about his marriage to Euro star Rita Faltoyano. Gunn says he’s very much married.

“Basically we met on set and had this chemistry,” says Gunn. “I requested to work together with her on another production; and then work with her again and again- as often as I could. Basically without expecting to, I fell in love with the girl. We got married June 18th in Vegas. It was a small wedding- not very many people but it was great.” To anticipate the question, Gunn says, yeah, Elvis was there. “He was at another wedding and he came over to ours.”

For Gunn this is his second marriage. The first time was to a Hawaiian Tropics model and he was much younger. “For want of better words, people change,” says Gunn. “We separated.” Gunn is originally from Cherry Hill, New Jersey and eventually moved to Florida with his first wife when he was 29.

Gunn was dancing in Florida and had been in that line of work about ten years. He got to travel a lot and did Playgirl magazine during that time. However, Gunn suffered a freak injury that put him in a wheel chair for nine months. It was a trampoline accident and Gunn would up crippled. It was at a Fourth of July party in the backyard of his wife’s parents. The irony, says Gunn, is that he was probably in the best shape of his life. “I was playing with the kids. The first time I got on the trampoline it was great. I was going up and down doing some tricks for the kids, they loved it. Later in the afternoon I got back on. They kids were we want to see you go as high as you can. I get on the thing and start bouncing as high as I can. The third or fourth jump my quadriceps- both legs- I got a quadricep tendon rupture, right where the four muscles that make up the quadriceps attach at the knee. That’s where they separated. Both legs at the same time.”

Gunn says it was like the sound of a baseball bat cracking. “I just came down on my backside,” he remembers. “My legs were stuck behind me because my hamstrings were still attached.” Gunn’s wife was looking at him and he remembers saying to himself it’s over. “That guy who was in great shape was finished.” The ambulance was called and Gunn, who knew his body inside and out, told them he tore his quads. Gunn’s leg muscles were behaving like snapping window shades and he was rushed into nine hours’ worth of surgery.

“No insurance,” says Gunn noting the operation cost him $40,000. Gunn is saying to himself I left Jersey for this? Gunn was born and raised in Jersey but got to the point where he hated the weather, especially the snow. “And this injury was in the prime of my dancing career and working out,” he says.
