Louisiana- An adult entertainment business in Webster Parish that promotes its offerings has gotten the attention of law enforcement.
State Police and sheriff deputies arrived at the store east of Minden at midmorning and began seizing hundreds of adult movies, magazines and displays.
Customers inside the business — which advertises itself with “XXX” signs along Interstate 20 — were allowed to leave when police arrived.
The raid is part of a grand jury investigation into whether the materials sold there violate community standards and are considered obscene.
District Attorney Schuyler Marvin said most of the store’s clientele are truck drivers and other people passing through. Local residents have complained about the store, which Marvin said sells videos and magazines has has private booths for people to watch movies and entertain themselves.
“That’s the kind of activity I believe crosses well beyond the obscenity line,” Marvin said of the booths.
Authorities said undercover agents have made purchases inside the business.
The assistant manager of the store said he had not met the owner and he declined further comment.
The case is similar to one in Lincoln Parish two years ago. The owner of an adult video store was prosecuted for selling pornographic movies. He was convicted of violating obscenity laws and agreed to leave town.
