PHOENIX – from www.myfoxphoenix.com – The Mayor of Los Angeles signed an ordinance requiring porn stars to wear condoms when shooting their scenes and that has some adult film companies threatening to leave the state of California.
Could they end up relocating to Arizona? Is that the kind of stimulus we want or need?
“Condoms or no condoms, people are still gonna watch porn,” said Taryn Thomas, an adult film star.
Thomas grew up in the valley and has been in the porn industry for 10 years. She supports the new law signed by Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa this week.
“In my time in the industry, I’ve only caught an STD once and that was Chlamydia and that was treatable,” said Thomas.
Los Angeles is considered the porn capital of the nation. Porn production companies have now threatened to move, but Thomas doesn’t believe they’ll relocate to Arizona.
“They don’t seem to think anybody really is going to relocated to Phoenix..they’re saying Miami and Las Vegas because that’s where studios have already gone,” said Thomas.
She believes Arizona is too conservative even though the valley is home to a number of internet porn companies.
There are only two states in the country where porn shoots are legal: California and New Hampshire.
Thomas will be among thousands of adult film stars expected at the Arizona Porn Star Ball, which will be held March 3 at 9-10 Live in Tempe. The event goes until 2 a.m. March 4.
