Memphis, Tn - from www.myfoxmemphis.com - The Shelby County District Attorney General's Office has cases on two local strip clubs, Babes of Babylon and Showgirls.
Each had its doors forced closed within the last week on allegations of prostitution and drug activity.
"The timing of them is purely coincidental," said District Attorney Amy Weirich.
Babes of Babylon was the first to shut down with a court order filed September 6th. Showgirls followed last Friday.
Police visited Babes of Babylon six separate times between May and September and say they witnessed dancers performing sex acts for cash.
The club staff was allegedly paid to ignore the illegal activity.
"This is the second time we've asked a judge to shut them down," said Weirich.
The first time Babes of Babylon was shutdown was last year in December.
The club re-opened, but the DA's Office says it ignored the court ordered agreement when prostitution and drug use didn't stop.
Over at showgirls, the investigation began in January.
Undercover police saying dancers were offering sex inside the club's VIP section and that staff members were making drug deals inside.
Weirich hopes these two cases serve as a warning to other businesses, "You've got to run your business within the confines of the laws in the state of Tennessee and if you don't the MPD and Sheriff's Office will be there to make cases."
The owners of Babes of Babylon were in court today, but the case has been continued until the 20th of September. The owners of Showgirls report to court Wednesday.
