“Doctor John” Scratched From Ballot

OMAHA, Neb. [www.ketv.com]- — A Lancaster County District judge ruled Tuesday “Doctor John” Haltom’s name will not be allowed on Lincoln’s city primary ballot.

Haltom is seeking a seat on the Lincoln city council.

Haltom was challenging a decision by the Lancaster County Election Commissioner to remove Haltom’s name on the ballot. Election Commissioner Dave Shively said Halton’s felony convictin in Utah, nine-years ago, prevents Haltom from holding public office in Nebraska.

The Nebraska Constitution bars felons from holding public office unless pardons restored their civil rights.

Halton owns seven “Doctor John’s” lingerie boutiques in Nebraska.

In 2000, he was convicted in Utah of selling an adult video to a 17-year old.

Haltom can continue his candicacy for Lincoln City Council, but he’ll have to rely on write-in votes.
