Boston- The journalism student whose professor lost his job for describing her as “incredibly hot” with a “bitchin’ bod” has dropped the class and says the prof not only crossed the line – he couldn’t get his facts straight.
“As a student,” the woman says, “I think you’re entitled to feel safe and comfortable knowing that your professor is a professional, not a pervert.”
Michael Gee, a former Boston Herald sportswriter who started work last month as an adjunct member of the faculty at Boston University, was fired after posting on his blog that one of the women in his class of six was so “incredibly hot” that “it was all I could do to remember the other five students.”
He wrote that the woman, who he did not name, had the “bitchin’ bod of the true Sabra” and later added: “I suppose I should be flattered that many of you think this gorgeous woman who’s half my age would consider having sex with me. Which, if I have any news instincts, she won’t. My problem is losing my focus when I meet her to-die-for eyes.'”
The student, Natalie Zfat, a University of Central Florida undergraduate taking classes at BU for the summer, says she learned about the comments not from the university, but from a classmate. Angry and offended, she dropped the course.
Gee, she says, “crossed the student/teacher line in a way that no student should ever have to deal with.”
Zfat says Gee’s comments were also largely wrong, even about how many students were enrolled in his class, “although now I wonder if there was another female if she would have been sexualized the way I was.”
As for what she refers to as “the sloe-eyed Sabra bit,” she says, “The reality is, I have hazel eyes and I’m from Brooklyn.”
Oh, yeah, one more thing, Zfat says: “I’m not a gorgeous woman half his age. I’m 19. Which makes me a third of his age.”
