From www.joe.ie – Revenge is a dish best served on your CEO’s plate before they are about to give an important PowerPoint presentation it would seem.
At least, that was the course of action taken by Walter Powell, a 52-year-old IT manager at Baltimore Substance Abuse Systems in the US, who spliced porn into one of his boss’s important presentation slide upon his dismissal.
Mr Powell has been sentenced to three years probation and 100 hours community service this week following his September 2009 firing.
According to court reports, the jilted ex-employee spent 32 days on BSAS’s computer system, wreaking havoc by installing keylogging software to steal passwords and emailing bitchy wok emails to the targets in question.
This wasn’t enough to satisfy Mr Powell’s desire for vengeance, however, so he decided to mastermind the ultimate prank – inserting porn into the BSAS CEO’s important PowerPoint presentation, which was conducted on a 64-inch screen. Here’s how it went down according to the Baltimore Sun:
‘It happened one day last year, as more than a dozen board members of a Baltimore substance abuse center had gathered around a conference room. The CEO was giving a PowerPoint presentation on his accomplishments.
Suddenly, his computer shut down, then restarted, replacing the latest slide with an image of a naked woman onto a 64-inch screen. The board members include city officials and foundation heads and is chaired by Baltimore’s health commissioner.’
Although we don’t know the full specifics of the inserted pornography, it has been confirmed that the surprise slide included a ‘naked woman’. Considering Mr Powell’s unhinged state of mind, we’re fairly sure it was a little more explicit than that.
The company CEO complained afterwards that the security breach cost the company $80,000, as he was forced to replace software and upgrade their current system. In other words, Mr Powell graciously exposed the BSAS’ security vulnerabilities and even offered free porn as a bonus, yet he’s the bad guy?
