DURHAM, N.C. — When it comes to Tammy Faye Bakker Messner, what’s one more drag more or less. That’s why Messner, the ex-wife of televangelist Jim Bakker, says she may pick up some tips on make-up from the male transvestites she’ll appear with this Friday.
The former Tammy Faye Bakker will host Drag Bingo in Durham , to raise money for the Alliance of AIDS Services Carolina.
She said Christians should be less judgmental and should welcome gays into their churches. In her words, “God sees a heart and a soul that is precious to him.”
Messner added, “Just because we don’t understand each other doesn’t mean that we can’t care for one another and love one another and live together in peace.”
Noting that many drag queens make themselves up to look like her, Messner said, “They do a better job of me than I do.”
