From AEE: Kagney Linn Karter Named Best New Starlet

LAS VEGAS— If you were in a betting pool and picked Tori Black to be named Female Performer of the Year, and Kagney Linn Karter as Best New Starlet, then treat yourself to a nice, thick juicy steak. Because Black and Karter were, indeed, the headliners at the 27th Annual 2010 AVN Awards held Saturday night at the Pearl Concert Theater inside the Palms Resort Casino.

While I can’t tell you who will win today’s NFL playoff games, I’ve never been wrong in my hunches as to who’ll win Best New Starlet. I saw it in Karter from Day One.

But all this really means in the end is that adult industry PR reps will be busy pounding out press releases all this week and next for every imaginable award that was given out at the show. To avoid the pain of sifting through all that B.S. here are some of the top ones at a glance:

Best Actor went to Eric Swiss, Not Married With Children XXX, X-Play/LFP [really good call] while Kimberly Kane nailed Best Actress for The Sex Files: A Dark XXX Parody, Revolution X/Digital Sin

Best Comedy was Flight Attendants, X-Play/Adam & Eve [There could have been no other]

Male Performer of the Year went to Manuel Ferrara while Sunny Leone was named Web Starlet of the Year. Crossover Star of the Year was no surprise going to Sasha Grey and there were probably 2,351 mainstream stories about her role in The Girlfriend Experience to support that.

Best Selling & Renting Title of the Year was Pirates II: Stagnetti’s Revenge, Digital Playground which is really surprising considering the astronomical price tag.

Best Director – Feature was awarded posthumously to David Aaron Clark, Pure, David Aaron Clark/Evil Angel. Shame in a way since Clark had to be dead to get finally recognized.

Best Parody (A Tie): The Sex Files: A Dark XXX Parody, Revolution X/Digital Sin and Not the Cosbys XXX, X-Play/Hustler [bad call to do a tie- pick should have gone into Sudden Death]

Best Video Feature: The 8th Day, Adam & Eve Pictures

Best Supporting Actor: Tom Byron, Throat: A Cautionary Tale, Vivid Entertainment Group

Best Supporting Actress : Penny Flame, Throat: A Cautionary Tale, Vivid Entertainment Group- interesting since Flame has made a big deal this past year of cutting her porn ties.

Best Non-Sex Performance: Thomas Ward, Not the Cosbys XXX, X-Play/LFP- who else could play Cosby except someone who looks almost exactly like him.

Best Male Newcomer: Dane Cross – I could swear Cross has been around a lot longer.

MILF/Cougar Performer of the Year went to Julia Ann, proof that if you hang around long enough you’ll win this award sooner or later.

Best Overall Marketing Campaign – Individual Project, Throat: A Cautionary Tale, Vivid Entertainment Group- goes to show that a lawsuit and a reality series helps.

Director of the Year (Body of Work) went to Will Ryder. Who else?
