LOS ANGELES — The Free Speech Coalition (FSC) will host a webinar titled “No Stigma, All Strategy: Taxes for the Adult Industry” on Tuesday at 11 a.m. (PST). The session will feature a tax expert specializing in the adult content industry, offering guidance on U.S. income tax, compliance strategies, common business expenses, and finding judgment-free financial services for adult professionals.

Tax Guidance for Adult Industry Professionals

The upcoming webinar is designed to address the specific financial needs of adult industry professionals. It will cover essential aspects of American income tax for adult content creators and provide strategies for maintaining tax compliance in the U.S. Attendees can expect insights into common business expenses relevant to the industry and information on how to locate accessible, professional, and judgment-free financial services.

The FSC describes the event as taking place “within a completely judgment-free zone.” A representative noted that the webinar will offer “invaluable insights and guidance specifically designed for adult professionals’ unique needs.” The representative also stated that “Navigating the complexities of U.S. taxes is a challenge for many, especially for members of the adult industry managing their own businesses.”

The target audience for this webinar includes entrepreneurs in the adult content industry, influencers seeking financial guidance, models looking for tax advice, sex workers aiming for financial empowerment, and performers interested in optimizing their tax situations. Registration for the event is available through the FSC’s Zoom page.

FSC’s Broader Advocacy for Financial Access

This tax webinar follows other initiatives by the Free Speech Coalition concerning financial issues impacting the adult industry. On April 18, 2024, the FSC announced a special briefing on the impact of derisking practices across the financial services industry, scheduled for April 24 at 2 p.m. This webinar, titled "Derisking: Examining Its Impact on the Adult Industry's Access to Banking Services," will address how derisking affects adult industry members' ability to build and operate businesses, earn income, and navigate digital transactions.

The derisking webinar coincides with the one-year anniversary of the FSC’s report, “Financial Discrimination and the Adult Industry.” This report detailed the extent of financial discrimination faced by adult-related businesses and workers. According to the report, over 60 percent of adult workers have lost a bank account or financial tool due to their association with the industry, with 40 percent experiencing such losses in the past year alone.

Since the report's release, the FSC has engaged with more than 40 Congressional offices, as well as regulators, compliance officers, and anti-trafficking organizations. The fight against financial discrimination has received coverage from national and international outlets, including the New York Times, Forbes, Wired, Boston Globe, The Street, and Slate.

Alison Boden, FSC executive director, commented on the derisking efforts, stating, “Over the past year, we’ve examined both the problem and potential cures.” Boden added that the panel discussion would allow for engagement with a broader audience, presentation of possible solutions, and answering of questions, calling it an “incredibly important discussion.”

Other FSC Engagements and Related Tax Resources

In addition to these financial-focused events, the FSC also hosted a virtual discussion on Thursday, April 25 at 4 p.m. PT / 7 p.m. ET, with Joe Cohn, a Congressional candidate. Cohn, described as a strong advocate for the adult industry’s rights, is running for Congress in November. He brings 20 years of experience as a civil rights and liberties attorney and has previously assisted the FSC in its fight against age verification while working for the ACLU and FIRE. The virtual event focused on protecting the rights of adult entertainment industry professionals.

While the FSC’s tax webinar is tailored to the adult industry, other organizations also offer tax education. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) provides webinars for tax practitioners on various topics, including tax obligations for Americans abroad, tax issues for nonresident aliens owning U.S. rental real property, and Circular 230 in practice. These IRS webinars are free and offer Certificates of Completion, with some qualifying for Continuing Education (CE) Credits for tax professionals. For example, a webinar on "Americans abroad: tax obligations, tax relief, and reporting requirements" is scheduled for April 21, 2026, at 11 a.m. Pacific.

Similarly, the Colorado Department of Revenue offers free tax education webinars for Colorado businesses and business tax professionals. These webinars cover topics such as sales tax, special events, consumer use tax, wage withholding, and legislative updates. Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credit is offered for all Colorado Department of Revenue webinars, which follow the joint standards set by the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA).
