TAMPA — She models under the name Reby Sky. Her sexy photos have appeared in Playboy, GQ and Stuff Magazine.
But in court Tuesday, 21-year-old Rebecca Reyes stood stonefaced in a grey suit as a jury found her guilty of opposing an officer during a traffic stop.
“I’m very disappointed,” Reyes said after the verdict. “I respect the jury’s decision, but I maintain I did nothing wrong.”
On December 23rd, Reyes was pulled over by Temple Terrace Police near her home because of a broken taillight. Investigators say she got out of the car, was being belligerent and cursed them out.
“I believe her statement was ‘Get the (expletive) off of me. You have no reason to touch me.’,” said Officer Greg Stavanus.
Police say they had to arrest Reyes because of her behavior. But Reyes testified that officers roughed her up, causing cuts and bruises on her knees and face. Reyes claims those injuries have hurt her career.
But it took the jury less than an hour to find Reyes guilty. The judge sentenced her to a year of probation and 48 hours of community service picking up trash for the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.
But this battle may be far from over. Reyes says she may also be considering filing a civil lawsuit against the Temple Terrace Police Department.
