from www.woio.com – Portage County Sheriff Department has announced the arrest on an indictment of Mary Schnell, 24, of Aurora. The arrest was a result of an indictment issued by the Portage County Grand Jury.

Schnell was indicted on two counts of Sexual Battery, both 3rd degree felonies.

The indictment was the result of a joint investigation involving the Aurora Police Department, the Streetsboro Police Department, and the Portage County Sheriffs Detective Bureau.

During the course of the investigation it was learned that Schnell was a substitute teacher with the Aurora School district and that the victim, a male juvenile age 16, was one of her students.

As a result of the investigation, deputies learned that there had been a romantic relationship between Schnell and the victim. During this relationship, sexual conduct did take place.

Schnell was arraigned Monday and posted bond.
