Ohio- An interpretation of the sex offender law has prompted a lawsuit. This lawsuit stems from a clerk at the Hustler Store outside Cincinnati but it could affect clerks across the state, including ones in Toledo; from a book store such as Barnes and Noble to an adult bookstore.
Clerks who sell materials later called obscene might have to register as sex offenders. That’s according to a lawyer who claims Ohio’s new law, which took effect in January, is too restrictive. Under his interpretation, anyone who is connected to obscene material, even ushers who sell movie tickets, might end up having to register as a sex offender. 13abc stopped at a bookstore, a movie theater and three adult stores, but no one would comment.
