Chicago- Last year, Kimberly Miniea was arrested for allegedly running a prostitution service in the western suburbs, but the charges were later dropped.
Miniea, 47, is now in prison on an unrelated drunken driving conviction.
Now, police allege, her 17-year-old daughter is keeping a house of prostitution in Miniea’s Berkeley home.
Kimberly Petersen was arrested and charged with the misdemeanor Thursday. Her arrest came after Hillside Police responded to an ad on the popular online classified site Craigslist. The ad advertised rates of $250 an hour to “enjoy a beautiful blonde” in Hillside. The ad included pictures of a smiling woman, “Amy,” in lingerie.
When an investigator called a number in the ad, he was given the address of Miniea’s house in the 5700 block of West Hawthorne, police allege. Once at the house, a woman allegedly offered to perform a sex act on a detective for $300, Hillside Police Chief Joseph Lukaszek said.
That woman, Heidi Mudge, 27, of Minneapolis, was charged with prostitution.
While police were at the house investigating, a man came to the house, allegedly looking for sex. Gregory Potapczak, 48, was charged with soliciting a prostitute.
All three posted bond and were released last week, police said.
Last April, police investigating an alleged arson at a Hillside apartment said they found lingerie, a black leather whip and condoms in a bedroom bureau. Miniea allegedly told police she rented the apartment to run an escort service to “entertain married men.””
Miniea and her daughter, then 16, were arrested, but the girl was not charged. The Cook County state’s attorney later dropped the charge against Miniea.
In Thursday’s arrest of Petersen, police got a search warrant and found “substantial facts to support a charge for keeping a place of prostitution,” a police spokesman said.
Police think Petersen is a high school student, but she doesn”t attend the local public school, Proviso West, a school official said. Police would not say who else was living in the home with Petersen while her mother was serving a two-year DUI sentence that began in January.
Saturday, a banged-up, 1988 Mercedes with a flat tire was in the driveway at the home near Hillside.
The Craigslist posting ” along with two similar ones ” remained online as of Saturday evening. Other users had flagged it, warning that the woman had been arrested.
