WWW- JANE Fonda, who’ll star in her comeback movie this year with Jennifer Lopez, was forced to organize and participate in orgies with her first husband, French director Roger Vadim, her eagerly awaited autobiography will reveal.
Random House executives are said to be furious that a copy of Fonda’s memoir, “My Life So Far” – embargoed until April 5 – was obtained by London’s Daily Mail. Execs at the publisher “have no idea how it got there – that was not supposed to happen,” said one insider.
The book includes Fonda’s account of her six-year marriage to the “cruel and misogynistic” Vadim, who directed her in “Barbarella” (1968), and how Vadim forced her into “sexual encounters with women,” including a beautiful redhead he ordered from an escort agency, the Mail reports.
Vadim, the ex-husband of Brigitte Bardot, also “bullied her into inviting other women to join them in bed” and suggested Fonda chat women up by using techniques gleaned from her Oscar-winning performance as a prostitute in the 1971 movie “Klute.”
Fonda says she agreed to the sexual encounters because Vadim, who died in 2000, played on her insecurities, making her feel “less than perfect.”
“It seems shocking that I did that, but I managed to convince myself that it was fine, that I wanted to, even though it was killing my heart,” Fonda writes.
Fonda, who later married leftist politician Tom Hayden and, after him, CNN founder Ted Turner, also blames Vadim for her eating disorders, which began during their marriage. “I ceased eating except for crusts from his bread and rinds from his camembert,” she writes in the memoir.
Fonda – who was dubbed “Hanoi Jane” when she visited North Vietnam and posed on an anti-aircraft gun at the height of the 1960s antiwar movement – writes about her childhood, and says Vadim’s behavior echoes that of her hugely legendary father, Henry Fonda. Her mother, socialite Frances Seymour, had mental problems and committed suicide when Jane was 12.
Jane, who retired from acting after her marriage to Turner in 1991, is making her comeback this year in “Monster-in-Law” as the mother who will do anything to break up the romance between her daughter, played by J.Lo, and her future son-in-law, Michael Vartan.
