Jimmy D Targets Adultfyi

On March 8, Jimmy D wrote the following: “Recently, AdultFYI.com has begun running a series of articles that are reprints of articles Gene Ross wrote while, I’m assuming, he was writing for Extreme Associates’ web site. (Which, judging from the number of articles he’s lately been writing about Extreme and Evolution, he might again be in their employ.)

…Today’s “Today in Porn, March 4, 1999,” reprints a Gene Ross article that deals with Kendra Jade and her involvement in the so-called Jerry Springer scandal…”

Gene sez: Jimmy D’s phrasing “Adultfyi.com has begun running a series…” would somehow lead you to believe that there’s a third-person higher authority I answer to. Last time I checked, I’m the higher authority. And, for the record, on March 4, 1999 I was with AVN and the story comes from the old geneross.com archives. So much for allowing facts to get in the way of a good discrepancy. And, to Jimmy D’s parenthetically sly suggestion that I’m still in the employ of Extreme Associates, there’s only one way to respond. Since I am that said higher authority, I can write about whomever I want to write about, can’t I? And, say what you will, Evolution and Extreme are still pretty interesting character-driven companies to write about. And just for that, here’s two more website plugs: www.extremeassociates.com and www.evolutionerotica.com

Then comes Jimmy D’s web comments eight days later regarding the furor over his participation in a bite the hand that feeds you anti-porn commercial. He targets Adultfyi.com specifically.

Jimmy D writes: And AdultFYI copy-and-pasted the AP article, but they gave it their own headline which read, “Jimmy D Turncoat.”

Gene comments: The AP article we cut and pasted referred to Jimmy D as the turncoat. We didn’t. Our headline merely used a question mark after the word. All facts considered, maybe we were wrong to use the question mark.

JimmyD writes: I guess I can see where their bias lies…

Gene: Considering that Jimmy D’s about as unbiased as Russ Limbaugh, it’s amusing that he should start crying it. The story that’s been planted in the media is a press release which probably came from none other than the very people Jimmy D shot his commercial for. If you check all the media reprints of the article, Tuesday this week, you’ll note that it’s essentially the same worded piece- a tip off that it came from a p.r. source which probably put this whole media campaign together.

Jimmy D: Maybe AdultFYI should put some banners up on their site promoting the use of porn by children? I’m sure Adam & Eve, who subsidizes KSEX Radio (AdultFYI’s sister internet media outlet), or some of AdultFYI’s sponsors, would be happy to subsidize a “Porn for Kids” campaign.

Gene: Other than this comment being tantamount to an “I’m telling your father when he gets home” threat, the attack logic displayed here is rather petulant at best, as if to suggest by quoting Holliday, Adultfyi.com has entered into some vast pro-kiddie porn conspiracy. When you have no rebuttal, drag the kids into it, I always say.

Jimmy D: You guys at AdultFYI, Holliday included, get what I’m saying here? Does it sound a little like “Fuck You!”

Gene: Colorful retort for such an accomplished writer. Echoing Lee Marvin’s comments to Robert Ryan in The Dirty Dozen, I can only say: “You’re really quite emotional.”

Jimmy D: As I mentioned earlier in this entry, AdultFYI ran a little rant where Jim Holliday ran off at the mouth at me in a less than flattering way. It’s great reading. That Holliday is some writer. You should all go read it.

Gene: Admittedly, a “fuck you” retort is the epitome of well composed rebuttal, Holliday, it should be noted, didn’t write anything. He commented, Adultfyi.com merely quoted.

Jimmy D: One of adult’s own makes national headlines in a story that is about the adult industry yet, for the most part, no one in the adult industry wants to ask me a single fucking question about it?

Gene: While “adult’s own” is a rather interesting choice of words to embrace, considering the bedding with the opposition theme of the story, why should anyone bother when we can all “copy and paste” the press releases.
