Los Angeles- Mantra Films, Inc., the production arm of Joe Francis “Girls Gone Wild” video series has been ordered to pay a well-known Los Angeles-based media company $5,000 in fees and costs for work performed at Francis’ personal request. Francis, whose legal difficulties have been well documented, currently is facing tax evasion charges and previously has spent time in jail.
Last spring, Francis hired Image Associates to conduct rush media training for two young women who were to participate in the planned launch of a Girls Gone Wild magazine. After the training was complete, representatives of Mantra Films repeatedly failed to pay several invoices and Francis personally sent Image Associates a highly profane e-mail which the judge hearing the case in Los Angeles Superior Court found too inappropriate to include in the court record. Neither Francis nor any Mantra Film representatives appeared in court for today’s hearing.
“I am pleased that the court found our contract to be valid and that Mantra Films owes us money for the media training services we provided. The court’s action follows a review of the facts and the decision confirms that people who use professional services must also pay for them,” said Dan Blackburn, CEO of Image Associates.
Mantra Films has ten days in which to comply with the court order.
