from www.entertainment.gather.com – “Machete” actor Danny Trejo is set to star in the upcoming indie thriller, “Skinny Dip” being produced by his son Gilbert Trejo.

The movie is about a woman that kills a police officer and Trejo will be accompanied by porn star Sasha Grey and actress Michelle Rodriguez. Casting selections for “Skinny Dip” which started filming in Columbia in late November may not work to this film’s advantage since it appears that salacious buzz trumps talent and experience.

Rodriguez would be an understandable fit for the leading role, opposite Danny Trejo because she has proved her acting talents on the big screen in “Girlfight” and “The Fast and the Furious” as well as on the tube in ABC’s “Lost”.

She also worked with Trejo in “Machete”, so these two actors have likely built a nice rapport with each other that could potentially improve the reception of “Skinny Dip” at the box office.

Sasha Grey, however, has the lead role in this movie according to JoBlo, which is absurd after her lackluster performance in Steven Soderbergh’s “The Girlfriend Experience”.

Her attempts to crossover from porn films to mainstream Hollywood productions is commendable and may eventually come to full fledged fruition but her acting needs some improvements for her to be taken seriously.

It is a shame that an actress such as Michelle Rodriguez who has a built-in fan base according to Movieline loses lead roles to the likes of Sasha Grey, whose only real on-screen experience was an acting debut in a very boring movie.
