Chicago- A suburban Chicago woman filed a $650 million lawsuit in federal court Tuesday against Michael Flatley, star of “Lord of the Dance.”
Tyna Marie Robertson accuses Flatley of sexually assaulting her while she was staying in his hotel suite during a 15-hour visit to Las Vegas in October 2002. Robertson, who is a licensed real estate agent, according to the complaint filed in U.S. District Court, is asking that Flatley and his firm, Unicorn Entertainment, pay $150 million in compensatory damages and $500 million in punitive damages.
The suit is the most recent in a spate of lawsuits and countersuits. Robertson, who said she gave the entertainer her telephone number at a boxing match, originally filed a $35 million lawsuit in Lake County Circuit Court in March 2003.
Flatley countered the same week with a civil suit in Los Angeles Superior Court accusing Robertson and her attorney, Dean Mauro of Waukegan, of extortion.
Robertson’s original lawsuit was dismissed in September 2003 because it was not filed in the proper jurisdiction.
