PORTSMOUTH, NH — A Gilford man pleaded guilty to offering a porn shop clerk $1,000 to drop shoplifting charges against him and has been sentenced to a year of probation.
According to Rockingham County Superior Court records, Zbigniew Drozd, 55, of 10 Roberts Road, admitted his guilt to a charge of commercial bribery and was sentenced by Judge Tina Nadeau to 12 months in the county jail, with all of the jail time suspended pending his good behavior for two years.
Court records also show he was ordered to report to a probation officer for one year, to undergo mental health counseling, and to stay away from the Moonlight Reader store on the Route 1 Bypass northbound.
On a Superior Court form acknowledging his waiving a right to trial, Zbigniew reported he holds a doctoral degree. In a 2006 Portsmouth District Court document, he reported he was an employee of the Oak Point Associates architectural firm.
In a related case, Zbigniew pleaded guilty in the district court to shoplifting an X-rated DVD from the bypass porn shop on April 27, 2006. As part of a negotiated plea, he was fined $200 and sentenced to 30 days in the county jail, with all of it suspended pending his good behavior for one year.
During the same September 2006 district court hearing, he was also found guilty of failing to stop for a police officer who was in pursuit of him after the shoplifting incident. On that charge, Judge Sawako Gardner ordered his license revoked for a period of 30 days and fined him $200.
