Porn Valley- A few months ago Bill Margold was on KSEX, www.ksexradio.com for the great debate that included Rob Spallone and Quasarman. During the course of the debate, Margold made some rather unflattering remarks and comparisons directed towards Ira Levine.
For the record, Margold was just as unimpressed this time around in his evaluations and repeated his Levine soundbites again Tuesday night for the PervertRadio, www.pervertradio.com audience.
Margold was asked a question about OSHA and noted that HIV revisited the adult industry earlier this year. “We had gone through all this in 1993, ’94, ’97, ’98. “We had always sort kept it in-house,” he says. “I always suggested to the business for years and years and years that we take care of ourselves from within- that the real world really doesn’t want any part of us so let’s not invite them in to run roughshod.
“AIM rose from Protecting Adult Welfare [PAW]. In the summer of 1997,” states Margold. “Jeffrey Douglas who I brought into the Free Speech Coalition and placed on the board, brought me Sharon Mitchell and said she was going to become the AIDS matron under you at PAW.” Margold said he only discovered recently, something that he long suspected, that there was an attempt to take PAW away from him. “Douglas, Mitchell, there was a doctor involved named Stephen York. And there was an insurance agent.”
Margold then brought up Levine and the fact that Levine, among other things, is now married to Nina Hartley.”God knows what that’s all about,” said Margold.
Referring to the HIV outbreak of 1998 and Marc Wallice’s name being in the center of it, Margold said you can’t convince him that Wallice was a culprit.
“To this day, Marc Wallice, by the way, has never been proven to be guilty,” said Margold. “He’s been speculated but never proven. And that’s where [Mark] Kernes and I have our biggest problem. Because Kernes says he’s absolutely sure Wallice knew and he has all the proof. I keep on telling Kernes if you got it, show it.. And he doesn’t have it. And he can’t show it. I’ve been trying to get Wallice, by the way, a lifetime achievement award through Free Speech. Because he deserves it for being the performer that he was. Absolutely. One of the three great studs of an era that included Peter North and Tom Byron. He’s the third of those three and should have his award. The man is a Legend of Erotica. He got a medallion. I’m sure a lot of people resented that.
“If it it was proven to me that he was culpable; if it was proven to me that he knew, then of course I’d have to see him in a different light,” Margold continued. “But there is no proof that he knew. And until you prove to me, you are innocent until proven guilty. Not according to Kernes of course. But, of course, Kernes has a lot of guilt wallowing up from within his lack of soul.”
Recalling events of May, 1998, Margold said Mitchell had “gained enough power to make a run at me and try and take PAW away”.
Margold cites “a very famous petition” that went out in an attempt to remove him from PAW. “We were testing by that time at the office.” Margold said he sat for a couple of days not knowing what to do.
“On a Thursday I wrote on a piece of paper three letters- AIM. I remember showing it to Mitchell. She was in my office at that point in time where my office still is. She looked at it and I remember her first statement was PAIN? I shouted, no. The organization is going to be known as AIM- Adult Industry Medical Healthcare Foundation. Our aim is to keep you healthy. She ran across the hallway and made a phone call. Within a couple of minutes, Jeffrey Douglas called me and said, thank you. That’s exactly how he said it. He sort of stuttered it out. I said you’re never going to figure me out.”
As a side note, Margold points out that AIM was conceived in May, 1998. “And now they’re stating they’ve been in business for seven years. Any stretch of the imagination suggests that they’re about 6 1/2 years old.”
Margold attributes an alleged comment to Levine that AIM was created in 1997. Margold was a bit more colorful but suggested you draw your own conclusions.
