EL PASO, Texas -- www.kfoxtv.com- A 66-year old El Paso woman is going on trial Monday to face charges of promoting prostitution at her strip club, Naked Harem, at 6345 Alameda.
Jeannie Coutta is also charged with engaging in organized criminal activity. She and her business partner, Phyliss Woodall, were arrested in 2004 after a 14-month police investigation at the strip club.
Court records show two 15-year-old girls and a 17-year-old girl were strippers at the club and they were paid to perform sexual acts on customers in the club’s VIP rooms.
In 2006, a jury convicted Woodall, 52, of engaging in organized criminal activity. She was sentenced to 16 years in prison. Jurors for Coutta’s trial were chosen Friday.
The trial starts Monday in the 243rd District Court in front of Judge David Guaderrama.
Other people arrested in the case include club managers Maria Brooks, 53, and Sandra Zepeda,44. Both are awaiting trial.
