Batavia, Ohio – from www.news.cincinnati.com – Naughty Bodies, which provides exotic dancers who strip for parties, should be shut down because it doesn’t comply with zoning regulations, a lawyer for Union Township told a Clermont County judge Friday.
The township is seeking an injunction to bar the business of Sean Casey, the pro wrestler and former Playgirl magazine model who is president of SPC Communications.
The company operates an escort service at 495 Old Ohio 74 in Mount Carmel under the names Naughty Bodies and 247 Dancers, according to a complaint filed in Common Pleas Court by township Law Director Larry Barbiere.
Casey’s request for a zoning permit, made after the business opened there earlier this year, was denied by the township.
Judge William Walker told Barbiere and Casey’s lawyer, Scott Nazzarine, that he intends to grant the township’s request for a temporary restraining order, effective Tuesday.
That will give Casey time to move office equipment to another location so his business can continue to operate while he takes his case to the Union Township Board of Zoning Appeals.
If the board rules against Casey, the matter could come back to Walker as soon as April 22 for a court hearing.
“The township shouldn’t discriminate against a business that’s already established,” Casey told The Enquirer. “It’s one more shot at trying to disallow things that are already in Clermont County.”
Casey said he had operated the business in Union Township for 10 of its 15 years in the county. It moved to Old Ohio 74 a few months ago because Casey is in the process of buying the building from a fellow defendant in the court case, Vincent Brashear.
Naughty Bodies previously operated out of rental space near the Déjà Vu strip club on Batavia Pike, Casey said.
“We did get an anonymous complaint that somebody was operating a sexually oriented business” at the new location for Naughty Bodies, Union Township Administrator Ken Geis told The Enquirer.
“Naughty bodies is not located within those areas in Union Township where the zoning resolution permits sexually oriented businesses, including adult arcades, adult bookstores, adult cabarets, adult theaters, adult video stores, escort services and adult novelty stores,” according to the complaint.
Casey said the location on Old Ohio 74, which used to be an upholstery business, is simply a call center for Naughty Bodies. Telephone operators there take calls from customers and schedule private dances throughout Greater Cincinnati.
“There’s nobody in the building dancing,” Casey said. “No clients come there. There’s no neon sign. We’re trying to be as discreet as possible.”
The Web site for 247 Dancers states: “We provide: male & female exotic dancers, models, private dancers and massage services for ALL occasions and events.” Casey’s photo is among the male dancer’s listed.
A private show featuring a nude woman costs $200 an hour, and the same for a male dancer costs $150 an hour.
“You may slow us down, but I’ll continue to do what is legal,” Casey said of Union Township officials. “The nature of the business is you have problems. It has become entertaining to me.”
